Sheila is a landscape and figure painter based in Saddleworth in the Pennine area of Northern England.
She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, council member and archivist of Manchester Academy of Fine Arts and member of Saddleworth Group of Artists.
She takes inspiration from
- Pennine landscapes
- Coast and seaside
- The human figure
My aim is to explore the underlying structure of the subject when the form is accentuated by light. Both landscape and the figure are approached with the same objective.
My preferred medium is oil for its malleable properties.
I like to work directly from the subject when possible or from preparatory sketches or photographs.
